comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i prefer the orville by far over star trek discovery. the orville feels more like star trek. it's classic trek, but updated, and i like the humor. discovery can have its cheesy war and all the pointless explosions, and unlikely and ridiculous mutinies.

how has he not been sued by paramount for plagarism?

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i like it. star trek without the stiff moralizing.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

orville is blatantly copying star trek. but you know what, i'm okay with it since it's also managed to capture the spark that made star trek worth watching. besides, there isn't another star trek show airing. yeah there's discovery, but it's a series arc telling a story instead of the episodic format old trek has.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

this writer needs to find something to do other than review tv shows, because her review missed the mark on nearly every point. orville is a very good show. i dare say it's more trek-like than the current star trek show, and lives up to star trek ideals more than trek discovery does. it's also fun to watch.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

seth macfarlane is a douche...but the writer of this review seems like at least of equal douchehood.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

the reviewer hates seth but i am guessing she loves star trek - discovery of depressed lesbians.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

it's not called the u.s.s. orville. its called the ecv-197-orvile.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

the show was great fun! critics don't know what they are talking about.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i can tell you're angry person with poisonous politics

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

the orville pilot was great fun! the critcs have no sense of humor or had a bad night's sleep or jeez, lighten up!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

sorry, liz. i enjoy the hot buttered corn of made by fox's orville as appose to the poo embodies on top of brass birdcages and the gritty itch promised by cbs's std.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

it would be a much better show if the'd dump irkle (scott grimes)

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

this review should be titled: how to piss off a social justice warrior.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

well i love it and it more star trek than star trek discovery.may be cut the jokes and add a little bit more weight to to the orvill. the characters could do with some more depth but that could come in future episodes.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

it's too much like star trek? yes, so what? it's probably more star trek than discovery, so i'm really happy that finally there is a star trek show on tv. and one that can be funny at times, something actual star trek almost never was. if only this team could have done the new official star trek show for cbs, instead of the hacks that are actually doing star trek and seem to have absolutely no respect nor love for star trek.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

gotta love the haters... just lose a few pounds sweetie.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

wow! cbs must really be rolling out the $$$ to all you troll reviewers! i'll be loving this romp, quite sure!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i'll say this much, i enjoyed the first episode and am looking forward to the second. the critics opinions are immaterial and unconvincing.

‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creatively, moral

doesn't matter how much macfarlane steals or spends — this show still feels cheap.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

head's up. trek didn't invent "u.s.s." it's actually a thing used by the us navy...

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

it wasn't too bad...even clever in places. seth macfarlane reminds me a lot of spike lee in that they are both good writers, but they both seem desperately to want to be stars themselves. and everything they've ever written or produced would have been better had they not cast themselves in it.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

really? because from what i saw, no one seems to have attacked the writer personally, but instead called out a bias that they viewed, i can't see where you seem to have gotten that notion.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

just your opinion. i am glad i don't have your sense of humor or your idea of what makes a show worthy.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

way too critical especially about similarities. no more similar to star trek than galaxy quest... which is necessarily similar for two shows set on a space ship in the future. seriously, they use the prefix u.s.s.?! well duh, so does the united states navy. what do you want h.m.s. orville?

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i like the orville and star trek. just as i like wolverine and deadpool. just as i like the walking dead and z nation. just as i like star wars and space balls. sometimes you've just got to let loose and poke a bit of fun at your favorite stuff otherwise you stand in danger of disappearing up your own arsehole. just as this reviewer sadly did.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

the show is good, what is wrong is everything about this review, and people calling it a "star trek rip-off"

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

funny how liz is suppose to be so patient the orrville beings that she has seen at least three episodes of it yet people were dogging out star trek discovery without seeing one damn episode.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

you couldn't be more wrong. you watched one episode with an obvious axe to grind (for some reason) and completely missed this.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

too much scatological humor: poop, urine, body odor; all really in bad taste and low class

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

"seth wanted to cosplay being captain of the u.s.s. enterprise. and fox let him do it." - perfect summary. the show sucks and so does macfarlane.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

did you honestly just write "quote-unquote"

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

not great, not bad hope it finds its rhythm before cancellation. it's a fun light and breezy homage to star trek, especially tng, which absolutely sucked the first season and a half, just enjoy

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

critics are foolish people. you can't do so you criticize. the orville is a good show(and they don't have transporters) its funny, they need to let go of the joke about the captain's slip up.but funny and i'll be watching it forever!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

do you actually understand satire in any way? as in the orville in its entirety is a parody. it feels like tng because thats the point. if you knew anything about macfarlanes past work you would know that parodues are his thing and the details are often uncanny... thats the point. seeing as you call it a rip-off clearly means you didn't get the point of the show. maybe you should stick to reviewing things you understand

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

mcfarlane ought to be investigated by the u.n civil rights commission for inflicting this on the american public. just joking, but it really, really sucked.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

this review is an example of what someone who missed the whole spirit of star trek (all series) and further missed the point of macfarlane's pilot would say when trying to be deep. it's just a fun trip that uses the trek style venue instead of some overused setting like so much of tv today. relax! i enjoyed it, and will continue to do so until it gets cancelled for some pos reality show.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i am just glad that critics like this are critics and not television producers, directors, writers, etc. leave that to talented people, like seth, who know what their doing and how to entertain. i love this show!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

when shows like the orville make it past studio executives that should have had the good sense to kill it before filming began, i envy the millions of people exterminated by the nazis that never had to see it on television.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

seems like the commenters here hate women. typical spineless little nothings.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

liz loves the word "clueless," possibly because it's so apropos for her reviews.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

have to agree. i enjoy a good comedy and a good sci fi show and this was neither one. hopefully the time slot opens up soon for something decent.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

sorry, i'm an old school trekkie who watched the original trek in my dad's lap. this show has a lot of the campy humour from the original trek that the later versions of trek dropped. the union isn't a utopia like later versions of the federation. i really enjoy it!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

okay, have ya heard of stargate sg1, or watched any previous startrek shows. because i don't think you have, compared to an average season 1 episode of tng,ds9,voy, or ent; this was a really really good start.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

the only ‘snowflakes’ around here are those viewers who see a negative review of something they personally enjoy as some kind of personal assault. its just a differing opinion, do you react this way in real life?

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

liz loves the word "clueless," likely because it's so apropos for her reviews: predictable, perfectionistic, pc nonsense.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

"people have come to embrace the idea that gender is a concept that goes beyond biology " no sane person thinks that.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

this review would have to be one saying st:discovery is the most fantabulous show around. all the bs reviewers slobber over in one really ugly looking crate. it's why like the media in general people don't listen to reviewers!

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

even though i have not seen the show and you have, you are clearly wrong and must have a bias against seth mcfarlane, when in fact you should have a bias towards seth mcfarlane, like me and my fan boy bros garble snort snort

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i watched it for 5 minutes til the first commercial. even watching it that far, it's an obvious rip off of trek. i don't like comedy very much, even less so with science fiction. the scene with the guy with a beer in the shuttle was enough to make me turn off the tv. not even remotely funny (to me at least). as a huge fan of star trek, this show is just an insult. i hope they get sued and then cancelled, in either order.
