video games....rofl! that was a battle they were never going to win and they still fought it. they have no leverage and look ridiculous 9 months later with no deal. a great leader doesn't lead his/her troops into battles they know they can't win.

michael bell and loren lestor spearheaded the video game strike. carteris was not in support of it. bell and loren emailed carteris with over 400 vo artists signatures demanding cateris get behind the strike. anyone may confirm this with the aforementioned parties. carteris also took credit for the imdb ageism action when it was in fact jodi long who spearheaded that cause. i appreciate miss carteris's service however this behavior is unethical by our president. better use of sag aftra funds would be to hire auditors to protect our residuals and purchase real estate instead of paying 5.2 million per year at 5757 wilshire and wasting 16 million dollars of the members dues money renting empty office space in nyc. i am running for president to remedy the current financial negligence pres

re commercials: everyone excpt the actor is making a living wage. actors are taking cuts while they are the face of the product. union directors are directing non union commercials; production companies, businesses/products, and ad agencies are getting rich, while loyal sag actors can no longer make a living on commercials. sag is still taking the full union dues from these actors, but not standing up for their rights. is it 1950 all over again?!!! sag needs to get their act together before it's too late.

yes, i agree. the commercial business is in shambles. she has been in the leadership position and the commercial business has suffered greatly and continues to suffer. in 2 days there were 96 commercial breakdowns: 56 of them were non-union; of the remaining commercials, the majority were internet only; social media; and other low paying types. commercial actors cannot make a living anymore.

we need social media, internet, wildspot and cable only to be sag contracts. sag needs to stand up for the actors on this front immediately. sag needs to start forcing top brands and corporations to actually pay actors for using their image as a human to sell their products. people cannot sustain any sort of livelihood off of acting if they do not make this change. in this day and age, large corporations are getting away with murdering the creative world of actors. please help sag.

sag needs to somehow address the hypocrisy of liberal companies / actors who say publicly they are pro-union and pro living wages and they do another thing entirely (do non-union commercials) because it’s best for their bottom line. i.e. facebook, starbucks, hp (bill gates!), jessica alba (who has benefited at being a sag actor her entire career and now only uses non-union actors for her billion dollar honest company), kate hudson (her whole family has benefited from the union financially and career-wise, but the only time her company fableticis uses union-actors is when she appears in them - otherwise they are low paying non-union jobs).

no actors strike: sag-aftra reaches contract deal with studios

the actors won’t be striking, either. just in time for the july 4 celebration, the screen actors guild-american federation of television and radio artists (sag-aftra) said it has reached a tentative deal with the alliance of motion picture and television producers (amptp) on a new three-year contract covering movies, scripted tv, and new media production. sag boasted of better residuals for actors whose work streams on netflix and amazon, increased fees for work travel, and a reduction in exclusivity periods for those who participate in shorter seasons. the contribution rate to the sag pension plan and the aftra retirement fund also got a bit of a bump. sag values the package at $256 million over three years. the new deal became effective on july 1. also worth noting: the union achieved re

a few years back wasnt it found that the top paid officials of sag-aftra were making near 7 figures and taking huge bonuses on top of that. i do think these lawsuits have merit, because the dues i pay are ridiculous and it is annoying knowing that i pay those dues to people who make more in a year than i have in my lifetime.
