"the last jedi" is causing a stir among "star wars," and disney is loving it.

with the opioid crisis that is going on right now, it's no wonder that so many people like the disney star wars movies. it's the only thing that can explain it, because these movies are awful.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

agreed! disney is delusional. they think people who don't like it will still go back to see it again. i have zero interest in reliving that long drawn out disaster.

"the last jedi" = the last star wars film i'm going to watch. what a very poor effort tlj is and to add insult to injury, it is not only a bad film but it also tramples on the star wars legacy. disgusting.

overall disappointed even though there were good moments. jj abrams i trust far more.

they should've called it "the last time i see star wars"

disney are you crazy. you don't defend it against the fans. it is the fans who fatten your pocket books. boo!

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

ya right, tlj is so different from other sw movies... 50% of the movie is based on esb (rebels on the run, hidden jedi master,etc.). the fact that the “hoth battle” takes place on salt rather than snow does not fool me. and the other 50% is garbage.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

this the final straw. disney didn't care about rejvinating the star wars franchise. all they ever wanted was to make more money and star wars was the quickest way to do it by rehasing a bunch of old tropes and passing as new ideas with bunch of crappy smokes and mirrors. at this point we can just forget about episode ix and pretend the last 6 sodding years never happened. perhaps it's better if the sequel trilogy never happened at all.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

the last jedi was a hit with the critics but the fans who spends their paychecks on the toys, keeps them sealed in the box, and displays them on a shelf aren't happy at all. i am one of those fans and you might want to keep them happy. we are also the ones who take our kids to see these movies. i am not likely to rush out and see the next one. and i sure am not going to to spending much on any more star wars merchandise. this movie made me realize what a waste it is to become so emotionally involved in a fictional universe.

i absolutely hated rogue one. force awakens was good but i thought it stole a lot. this one was great but then again, i liked the prequels and space politics, jar jar aside obviously!

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

“remember kids. it’s not important if it’s of high quality, only if it makes money." as mark hamill said, we understand the direction you disney are heading, but turning down the existing fanbase is certainly a beginning of downfall and stupid. your ignorance are just as much as your arrogance.

lol at people complaining about science in star wars, even though empire strikes back had bombers, and bombing runs, and han, leia, and chewie walking around on the interior of an asteroid with nothing but a breathing mask... suddenly leia surviving in space is too much, despite her strength in the force? come on, crybabies. if you don't like the movie, fine, but those are some weak reasons to be against it.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

disney is "loving it". they're loving the box office, but this is damage control. i'm sure they'd be happier if the fan response were less critical. rian johnson and kathleen kennedy exemplify the peter principle in this case.

star wars doesn’t need to course correct after the last jedi backlash

it is the biggest let down in cenenatic history. the books, extended universe and the true worth in star wars born of george lucas has been prostituted off and abused. i don’t knoe a single friend, member of family, work colleague or social acquaintance who likes this or thought of it as a true star wars film. a truly awful progression ending disney’s future in the franchise. great production but the study wiped clean and desire to see future films for me and over 50 of my friends and family.

tlj dropped in revenue in one week more than any film in history. and it hasn't been out yet for even two weeks. once the honeymoon phase ends and word spreads, it will tank. no one i know of is puzzling over any tlj 'mysteries' except the mystery of how it got green lighted for production. one of the big problems with tlj is that there are no mysteries and that it has killed the mysteries and mythology of star wars. the credibility of pro reviewers who work for publications in which disney takes out ads are dubious. the amateur reviewers are more more likely to be unbiased, and they by a very wide margin disliked this movie. just check the numbers pro versus con on metacritic. tlj is an unmitigated disaster. jj abrams has a huge job to pull the star wars franchise out of th

i loved it. very original and predictable. anyone who claim are to “miss george lucas” is clearly a millennial who didn’t grow up watching him ruin the original trilogy with his over the top sfx additions (and he refused to release the theatrical editions in hd). also, the prequels? absolute shit. give me a break people!!

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

yeah right, people loved rogue one with a female protagonist and with mon mothma as head of the rebellion, but suddenly they are 'sexist' against leia. umm no. the leia surviving in out space thing was absurd, as was the notion that there is gravity in space permitting 'bombing runs' as was the idea that if you 'run out of gas' in space your space ship comes to a stop.

i am huge star wars fan and i loved loved the last jedi. the so called 'fans' who are pissed about the movie not following old rules or old characters arcs are morons. why the hell are these idiots not excited about new directions and possibilities. aren't you guys bored with watching same people do the same shit all the time. where is your curiosity? the unpredictability is so offensive to you because you can't post some videos on youtube or tell your friends 'look my sw theory was right'. you guys need to a) get a life b) switch off your laptop and go outside your room or dungeon or troll market or whatever c) stop ruining the nerd culture d) grow up & change coz others do like luke skywalker did coz he is fucking 60 years old and won't behave like

rocked really? how did finn / rose / dj know about that plan at the end with the escaping shuttles - since finn / rose never knew it - how did dj sell that plan to the first order? and it's so common when you arrest terrorists - you don't bring them to jail - you bring them to hangar bay fully loaded with troops lfmao

this isn't about space physics. its about inconsistencies to the last movie and crap for the sake of change. i'm a black man and i have never been sexist, but some things are way to blatant and borders on tokenism which is pretty bad in itself. finn is a buffoon. i love john boyega, but his character has been mistreated imo. there is some mary sue taking place and it looks like every man on the movie is either a jerk or fool. i don't know. rogue one was plain awesome, but this was sad.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

how on earth someone loving tfa and tlj can shame others for not liking "unpredictability" and for wanting "same all shit all the time"??? tfa is a new hope rip-off, lame remake under a new title, scene by scene, character by character. nothing new, copy-pasted, plaggio di pladdio, empty. and tlj just tears apart in plot holes turned out not to be tfa "mysteries in the future to be solved". i miss george lucas. he had created a so great universe with star wars and now we will never know how the sequels were really going to be.

comment on disney defends ‘star wars: the last jedi’ against fan backlash: ‘it’s

slow down there. no one is "puzzling" over tlj mysteries to my knowledge, except the mystery of how the script got cleared for production. one of the very big problems with tlj is that there are no mysteries, it has killed the mysteries and mythology of star wars. box office is hurting. it dropped in one week more than any film in history, and it hasn't even been out for two weeks, so the honeymoon phase hasn't even ended. as bad word spreads the impact will no doubt deepen. the fans who give it a thumbs down far outnumber those who enjoyed it, according to metacritic, and if you check i believe you will see that most of the professional critics who loved it work for publications that have enjoyed disney ad placement (i.e. disney money). the conflict of interest built i

liquid boils in space, her blood, eyeballs and any otherbodily fluids would have turned to vapor and exited her veins, her body would have swelled 2 or 3 times the size, her lungs would have popped immediately ... and then after all of that she would have froze. i guess science is exist? 0-o unbelievable, "every one who doesn't agree with me is sexist racist xenophobe". maybe some people just realize rediculous over the top non plausible scenarios when they see them. sexist....pretty lame when that's the only defense you can give....get real this movie was shite.

firstly i am not a bot or troll as they would make you believe as someone who is unhappy with this film. i have no issue with the actors performances or fx team which delivered in part some great moments. but, this film is wrong on so many levels - inept humour - the lactating scene?, numerous character assassinations, plot holes the death star could fill, over the top feminism and 'swearing' which has never been a part of the sw universe. rian johnson and kk made the decision to take a major dump on this franchise. jj really has his work cut out with the next installment for sure. i will boycott the next film in this trilogy at the cinema. lets see how critically acclaimed the next film is?????

the last jedi: a force push against the backlash

there’s only one thing all star wars fans can agree on: there is imbalance in the force. the last jedi was won overwhelming praise from critics and is stomping across the global box office like a rampaging at-m6 gorilla walker, but it has also fiercely divided the community of admirers who make up the vast star wars fanbase. writer-director rian johnson acknowledged the division thursday in a tweet, saying: “the goal is never to divide or make people upset, but i do think the conversations that are happening were going to have to happen at some point if is going to grow, move forward and stay vital.” maybe it’s the era we’re inhabiting. lightning-fast reactions mean sides are separated and battle lines drawn immediately. and with anything this widely seen, $600 million in ticket sales afte

comment on petition to remove ‘star wars: the last jedi’ from official canon has

i think if you give the petition time it can force disney's hand; the last jedi was an insult to the true fans of the star wars franchise. if disney wants to keep making movies and being profitable there going to select directors who aren't complete morons who know nothing about star wars and its ethos. the petition is over 75,000 now, i suspect before it will rise to millions- despite disney's collusion with the critics- the voices of the people will be heard and disney i hope will have to make amends for the travesty they call a movie.

just because disney calls it star wars doesn't mean tls or tfa are real star wars movies. every true star wars fan knows (including mark hamill) that they have nothing to do with that universe. even old cheap imitations of star wars like krull or mission to space are much better. idiots like smith that call themselves star wars fans and even try to justify this blasphemy are disney sell outs. disney should come in terms and fire everyone responsible to and involve with this commercial (china didn't buy those damaged goods) and artistic failure. reboot it with lucas in charge and don't do another cheap imitation that doesn't compete not only with the real thing but is inferior and can't hold the candle to star wars cheap imitations too. nobody want to see this trash

i heard it sucked. i called it years ago when disney took over the franchise. lucas turning into a cgi-obsessed moron and reaching back to screw up the ot was bad enough (han shoots first ... always), but when i heard disney bought it i was like, bye-bye star wars. i've been sitting back in amusement watching all the tenacious fans finally realize that disney = schmaltz.

its sexist that in the vacuum of space all the air would have been pulled from her lungs collapsing them, the extreme cold would have frozen all the water in her skin instantly and then the rest of her fluids shortly there after, her eyes would have immeadiately frozen solid. when they opened the door to let her in the vacuum would have sucked everyone out. all this, not even mentioning the initial concussive blast from the missiles and depressurization would have caused all sorts of internal injuries that would have killed her instantly. if the blast was strong enough to break whatever metal that ship in made of, better believe her organs would be mush from the concussion. her having force powers is fine and would be dumb if she didnt but this is god like powers to be able to survive that

disney only felt that way initially and normally "who could blame them?"; however, they're reviewing the controversy and feasibility of placing the trilogy in legends. it's a discussion. the unavoidable fact is that the entertainment media have unilaterally agreed the film 'subverts all expectation'; and audiences overwhelmingly agree that lingering disappointment stems from a lack of continuity with previous canon, whether they individually liked the movie or not. there is therefore, no debate. now two films in, the sequel trilogy has failed to foster a connection to the saga's continuity and cone across as "too interpretative a body of work" to sit with it. this isn't subjective any more. being placed in legends is a good idea, the trilog

star wars: the last jedi becomes the biggest box office hit of 2017

the force is strong with this one. star wars: the last jedi has dominated the holiday season to become one of the top box office releases of 2017, both internationally and domestically, right under the wire as the year comes to a close. the rian johnson-directed film made $52.4 million over the weekend, from dec. 29-dec. 31, which puts it at a domestic total of $517 million. that passes disney’s live-action beauty and the beast to become the biggest domestic box office release of 2017. and with over $120 million globally this weekend, the last jedi has passed $1 billion to become the third-biggest global release of the year (and 24th-biggest all-time). some star wars fans have voiced criticisms of the last jedi online, giving it a 51 percent audience rating on rotten tomatoes. but that has
