urban offers “star trek 4” film update

those involved in the “star trek” film franchise are seemingly as in the dark as the rest of us in regards to when a fourth entry in the rebooted series might come to screens. karl urban, who plays dr. ‘bones’ mccoy, recenty confirmed to screen crush during “thor: ragnarok” promotion that he and many of […] the post urban offers “star trek 4” film update appeared first on dark horizons.

karl urban cast doubt on the possibility of star trek 4 happening, following star trek beyond's box office under-performance last year.

karl urban wants to explore bones' family in next star trek film

there's no guarantee that another star trek film is happening after star trek: beyond, but if there is, karl urban knows what he wants to do with his character. the actor shared his thoughts at the continuing voyage convention in chicago and trek movie was in attendance to get his idea for the next film: “perhaps it would be interesting to see something of mccoy’s family...his ex-wife and daughter and that dynamic.”that might be interesting to see, although i can't see that being more than a 30-second clip similar to what was shown with sulu and his lover in star trek: beyond. i know karl urban was more than a little upset about his role being reduced and threatened to walk from the franchise ahead of this film, but it's time to face facts: a star trek film should never revolve aroun

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

it's too much like star trek? yes, so what? it's probably more star trek than discovery, so i'm really happy that finally there is a star trek show on tv. and one that can be funny at times, something actual star trek almost never was. if only this team could have done the new official star trek show for cbs, instead of the hacks that are actually doing star trek and seem to have absolutely no respect nor love for star trek.

will not watch it. will not purchase anything licensed trek until those fan film "guidelines" are lifted and we get back star trek phase 2/new voyages and star trek continues.

star trek: discovery set photo offers our first look at the klingons

a week ago a behind-the-scenes video was released for the upcoming series star trek: discovery. in that video, the costumes for the klingons were teased, which you can see above. now, a photo has surfaced from the set of the film showing several of the actors all decked out in their klingon makeup and gear. the photo came from an extra on the set with the comment, "hanging out with my new klingon crew today on the set of the new #startrek." as you can see, the costumes they are wearing definitely match the costumes that were revealed in the behind-the-scenes video, so the photo seems legit.as for the new look of the klingons, they definitely have a different kind of look to them. none of them have hair, they have kind of have elongated heads, and the ridges on their heads go all

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

orville is blatantly copying star trek. but you know what, i'm okay with it since it's also managed to capture the spark that made star trek worth watching. besides, there isn't another star trek show airing. yeah there's discovery, but it's a series arc telling a story instead of the episodic format old trek has.

ok trekkies, we’ve got a bit of an update for you. “star trek discovery” should now premiere “late summer/early fall,” cbs boss leslie moonves said monday during his time on stage at the 2017 morgan stanley technology, media & telecom conference. “probably,” he added. also read: get first peek at 'star trek: discovery' (video) moonves referred to the new “star trek” as “the family jewels” of his over-the-top streaming service, cbs all access. he likely meant “crown jewel,” but maybe not. the show’s release has already been pushed several times thus far, which the cbs chairman and ceo explained away by stressing how important it is to get “discovery” — and all access itself

comment on ‘star trek: discovery’: three cast in cbs all access series by cat

comment on ‘star trek: discovery’ review: cbs all access series shines by making

as a lifelong star trek fan of every trek thus far (tos, tng, ds9, voy, ent, the new movies) this was... awful. it was so damn dark and felt and looked nothing like star trek. meanwhile, i have been pleasantly surprised by "the orville" which was not something i expected as normally i don't care for mcfarlane's stuff. orville looks and feels so much more like star trek (albeit a lighter more comedic version like galaxy quest), and i am thankful for that after this disappointment. the worst part is that cbs wants us to pay for this. really, pay-to-trek? right, because gene's vision of the future involved cashed based viewing exclusivity. cbs's greed is insulting to everything star trek stands for.

comment on why ‘pirates’ & ‘baywatch’ are trudging through sand at the domestic

what about warner brothers makes you think they'd do a better job with star trek? batman vs. superman? suicide squad? if you said disney or fox, you might have had a point. but warner brothers? they might be the only major studio to mishandle star trek even more than paramount.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

this writer needs to find something to do other than review tv shows, because her review missed the mark on nearly every point. orville is a very good show. i dare say it's more trek-like than the current star trek show, and lives up to star trek ideals more than trek discovery does. it's also fun to watch.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i honestly don't see the issue with a direct homage to a series when modern star trek, from the films to the newest series, are not at all attempting to capture what made the original series great. so what's the issue exactly with reviving a series from 40 years ago when what carries the star trek name no longer resembles it? especially with the blessing and involvement of so many trek series people. you think frakes is going to get a shot at directing a star trek movie again in the abramsverse? im struggling to see your point.

comment on ‘the orville’ review: seth macfarlane’s ‘star trek’ rip-off is creati

i prefer the orville by far over star trek discovery. the orville feels more like star trek. it's classic trek, but updated, and i like the humor. discovery can have its cheesy war and all the pointless explosions, and unlikely and ridiculous mutinies.

comment on ‘star trek: discovery’ to launch by early fall on cbs all access, les

there are no terrible star trek series; they are all good. some of them better than others, but star trek has always been high-quality television. of course there are going to be some less-than-memorable episodes here and there, it's a really long saga.

another episode with too much star trek, not enough discovery

the problem isn’t that star trek: discovery is terrible. it’s not. it’s not great; it’s not even consistently good. but it’s not the worst, and if this wasn’t a star trek show, i think i’d be more inclined to be favorable towards it. “lethe” has some decent emotional beats, particularly in burnham’s storyline, and…read more...
